Hello there!

I’m Megan Elizabeth Grimshaw (MEG), a Graphic Designer based originally from Wigan.

When I was fifteen, my great-aunt Helen passed away and left me items that changed my life: sketchbooks, paints, pencils etc. Some of my best days were spent drawing and painting in sketchbooks by The Bombed Out Church or in the Tate Liverpool. Since then, I have wanted to be a designer of some sort.

My work usually begins with a very hands-on approach, escaping the computer and I usually start projects by doodling or flicking through design books.

My work is driven quite heavily by research as I like working with current affairs, rules and concepts. I'm particularly interested in editorial design, typography and collecting. I'm always looking to explore new innovative solutions and push the boundaries of design through creative exploration, format and material.

A big passion of mine is collecting, by collecting I develop my taste, keep up to date with design patterns and help them create. My collections not only explain, but show others what I like and what I find interesting.

How you go about educating yourself, as a designer is a highly personal affair. I feel that in order for me to improve constantly there are things I cant do without. Mostly this means a lot of practising and knowing how to take the material around me and turn it into something original and successful. Looking past the obvious, close observation and engagement of the subject is my design process.

Thank you for visiting my site, If you would like to know more about any of my projects or have any questions, I would love to hear from you!
